This is going to be a place holder for information for me to refer back to.
These guys http://www.emj.ca/contact_us.html sell a USB Smart Media card reader and a PCMCIA card adapter which works with OS X. They are resellers in Canada for Ratoc, a Japanese company. Now I need to find out who their retailers are.
This dicussion explains that this indeed is a working solution for OS X. http://discussions.info.apple.com/WebX?14@111.Ayv2apcjmP3^95575@.efc7bd7

O’Reilly: Getting to the Source of Mac OS X. “When Apple began developing Mac OS X, they did something really cool: they chose BSD Unix as the core foundation for the OS. On top of BSD Unix, they added their programming APIs, Graphics Engine, and Aqua GUI. This is common knowledge. But what many people don’t know is that the source code for much of Mac OS X is available to the public.” [mac.scripting.com]

Annova: "Grammy bosses blacklist performers who are to perform on rival show the American Music Awards, an awards organiser claims." [Scripting News]
Another good news story from the music industry. I hope Dick busts this wide open. Not that it matters much. The Grammys have sucked for a long time.

"Lantana". "American Beauty" meets Bergman in this note-perfect masterwork on a modest, human scale. [Salon.com]
I rarely go to movies but right now there are a pile of them I'd love to see. This is one of them, and not just because of the quote below.
"I have rarely, if ever, seen a film that rendered the faces, eyes and figures of middle-aged women with such profound affection and unapologetic eroticism."
The world is more than ready for this. I'm pretty much middle-aged now and am delighted to find myself attracted to women my own age!
