Brian De Palma Toasts the New and Reflects on 'Scarface'. Brian De Palma didn't come to the Toronto Film Festival just to see his own film, "Femme Fatale." The director has been visiting the festival since 1979 to see the entries. By Elvis Mitchell. [New York Times: Arts] 'He nods and grins upon hearing a story about a Toronto festival screening this year; after the trailer thanking the volunteers didn't run, a patron piped up in the darkened theater, "What about the volunteers?" and the house rocked with appreciative applause.
