[The Macintosh News Network]

Canuck vs US dollar changes means our prices can drop further. Nice.

Apple drops 12, 15-inch PowerBook prices up to $300

Apple Monday lowered the prices of its 12 and 15-inch PowerBook G4 models by up to US$300. The 12-inch PowerBook G4 is available from $1,599, a price drop of $200. What's more, Apple's 15-inch PowerBook G4 is now available from $1,999 -- a drop of $300. Features on the lower-priced PowerBooks remain identical -- the only thing that's been cut is the price. [MacCentral]

Ooh. Here's hoping they're clearing out inventory for updated models. I'm going to need a new machine soon and the 15-inch probably makes most sense for me. But I don't want the older titanium design because of the problems with wireless reception.

U.S. Report Faults the Roundup of Illegal Immigrants After 9/11 'The Justice Department's roundup of hundreds of illegal immigrants in the months after the Sept. 11 attacks was plagued with "significant problems" that forced many people with no connection to terrorism to languish in jails in unduly harsh conditions, an internal report released today found.

The highly critical report from the Justice Department's inspector general concluded that F.B.I. officials, particularly in New York City, "made little attempt to distinguish" between immigrants who had possible ties to terrorism and those swept up by chance in the investigation.'

Nokia teams with Warner Music

The deal will allow Warner to offer song clips from emerging artists, ring tones and multimedia message templates for Nokia 3300 owners. [CNET News.com]

Argh. Does sound quality not matter at all? Mastering for cell phone quality anyone?
