How to clean up maple syrup (kottke.org)
Since my post about the maple syrup spill, my inbox has been buzzing with a number of different techniques that people have sent in for cleaning up maple syrup. As a service to future Google searchers or those of you that may have just spilled maple syrup all over the place, here are several of those techniques:

Mexican TV actress dies during robbery
Popular Mexican television actress Mariana Levy died on Friday of a heart attack after a man armed with a pistol approached her van on a Mexico City street.
This is just too sad. At new year's Luz and I were visiting her brother in Cuernavaca. One Sunday afternoon we were invited to their friend's house. It was a revelation for me in many ways. Even though I'd met only one of the two dozen or more people there before everyone was extremely friendly with me. We all shared stories and lots of laughter. There were kids playing everywhere. The food was great. The host and his wife had three kids, one of whom was a baby about 9 months old. When we left the mother kissed me again and told me her house was my house. I honestly felt very welcome there. The woman was Marianna Levy.

Mexico is an incredible place full of beautiful, friendly people. But it is also a dangerous place. There is too much inequality, too much corruption, and too much crime. My heart goes out to this beautiful family and their friends.

Ranchero Software: "NetNewsWire 2.0 Released!"

What a long...

Ranchero Software:"NetNewsWire 2.0 Released!"

What a long but worthwhile trip it's been for Brent and Sheila. NNW is an outstanding example of a Macintosh application, well crafted and lovingly shipped almost like a custom built sports car. I use NNW in conjunction with MarsEdit and Radio's aggregator to handle a large number of feeds, scripting, and writing for my weblog. It's well worth the license fee. Please take a moment to consider Brent and Sheila's product if you own a Mac and read RSS feeds. It's fantastic.
