Giles Bateman: "The problem is not with just one corrupt executive -- it is with industry standard operating procedure." [va Scripting News] // There are tons of people piling on Mr. Eisner, I will try to pick some of the better. I thought this classic, I just love grabbing just one quote and Dave did well here.

NYT. Another e-mail trail on the Enron case. This time the trail leads to PaineWebber, a broker that had a cozy financial relationship with Enron.
>>>The broker, Chung Wu, of PaineWebber's Houston office, sent a message to clients early on Aug. 21 warning that Enron's "financial situation is deteriorating" and that they should "take some money off the table." That afternoon, an Enron executive in charge of its stock option program sent a stern message to PaineWebber executives, including the Houston branch office manager. "Please handle this situation," the newly released message stated. "This is extremely disturbing to me." PaineWebber fired Mr. Wu less than three hours later... But the day that Mr. Wu was fired was the day that Enron's chairman, Kenneth L. Lay, was both shedding some of his own shares and talking up the stock. On Aug. 21, Mr. Lay sold $4 million of stock to the company. <<< [via John Robb's Radio Weblog] // How's this for the good old boys network working quickly to keep the old pot of gold safely out of view, less than 3 hours later, wow.

DaveNet: Eisner made over $700 million in 5 years. [via Scripting News] // This is the hottest topic in bloggerland. This Eisner dudes a knucklehead. Much more to follow. Corruption, I always kid my wife that its a south side (Chicago) thing. Unfortunately, there are whole industries which at some point will have to crumble. Anderson and Enron are just the tip of the iceberg. If you are not delivering value to your customer, you will be left on the side of the road eventually. Some may take longer than others, some the justice is delivered quite swiftly, ask Anderson as they fight for their corporate life. Also, every time I read some more about them trying to save their little empires, I crank up grokster :-) just cause I know it will give Michael Eisner and that kook from the grammy's heartburn, not because I think I'm stealing. Grok just helps me decide what I want to buy, it certainly isn't going to replace my CD collection.

Soundbug. Turns any flat surface into a speaker. [via John Robb's Radio Weblog] // This looks way kool but the site is a little on the lame side. The engineer in me is quite skeptical but I await eagerly to see this little piece of technology. Site has a couple of videos and little else. Even with my average broadband connection I couldn't get through the high quality video. Go with low and you'll succeed.
