Ah, payday. Of course there were the usual screw-ups with the amount of taxes withheld. My main problem is with that form they give you to calculate your expected taxes, so your employer can withhold the appropriate amount. See, they estimate your taxes based on your projected yearly salary, which is calculated by multiplying your weekly salary by 52. The assumption is that you'll be working all year at that rate, which has never been true for any job I've ever worked at. If you're only planning on working four months, you'll pay taxes on three times your actual salary!
Here's my other chronic problem: How to pay my Canadian credit cards and other debts without mailing paper across the continent? I really need cross-border bill-pay. I was considering paypal for some items, but then I remembered their massive fee structure, especially on currency conversions. I can't believe that in the 21st century there's still so many barriers to commerce between the two largest trading partners in the world (?).
