Natalie is an XML-RPC hero at work:

Now it's a showdown between xml-rpc and soap. The challenge: build a C++ server and a java client. Basically to show that the C++ is possible because we're not doing that part.

The challengers: me - the xml-rpc advocate ("It's easier") other guy - the UWaterloo CS grad (doing it in soap)

Outcome: I got it working in cyg-win in 4 hours!! And that included downloading cygwin, the libs, installing everything. He is still reading the specs.

There are sixty more days of work until I go home. I wish I was doing something interesting so I would have to do this countdown. I'm building a product that no sane person would ever use, even if they were stranded alone on a desert island with only their Timeport and their survival depended on mobile CRM. Would you wait 2-3 MINUTES for the results of your request to come back?

Remember the cs246 "stages of software development"? (I don't - I just made this part up) Even before "Are we building the right product?" I think you should ask, "Should we build the product at all?"
