Guess what? Drive on the 407 ETR and you'll get billed -- even if your car is a rental from Quebec. Linda from work tells me this is a recently added "feature" of the system. They added it after three months of free commuting to her last co-op job in her Quebec registered vehicle. Now the question is: Can Manitobans still enjoy a free ride? The Neon has been on the 407 a bunch of times and there's never been a problem.
In other driving news, I got a $150 speeding ticket for passing a unmarked police car at (allegedly) 132 km/hr on the way home today. (I was visiting in Waterloo for the weekend). Damn those little zero crime towns whose police force exists solely for the purpose of harvesting speeding tickets from the nearby 401. I'm supposed to ...
... Make cheque or money order payable to "United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry ..."
Who lives in these places ??? The ticket might as well say Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook
I split the cost of the trip with a co-worker that I talked into coming along but of course number we divide by two shouldn't include the speeding ticket. As the driver I have to be responsible for my own actions and pay it myself. However, I think that on future road trips where there's a primary driver, there should some kind of allowance for that one person assuming all the "risks of the road."
