Belgium’s Prime Minister has announced that it is droppings its universal war crimes law, replacing it with a more restrictive law. The universal law gave Belgian courts the power to try war crimes cases no matter where they were committed. In future, the right to launch cases would be restricted to Belgians or people resident in the country and restricted to cases involving Belgians. Among those that people tried to have charged under the law were Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. 10:39:18 PM ![]() |
