Having previous dropped Nvidia in favour of ATI Technologies as the supplier of the graphics processing unit for its Xbox gaming console, Microsoft has now decided to replace its Nvidia chipset with one from leading Taiwanese chipmaker Silicon Integrated Systems. (SIS). The SIS chipset will provide "advanced media input/output technologies".

Earlier in the week Microsoft agreed to use IBM technologies in the next generation Xbox, leading to speculation that Intel has been replaced as the supplier of its central processing unit.

Next up – hard disk and optical drive manufacturer and then showing the company to build them all.
