SARS Suit I recently stated to my father that I was surprised that nobody was suing over the Toronto SARS outbreak. The wait is over, the Toronto Star reports: A Toronto nurse who contracted SARS during the second phase of last year's deadly outbreak is suing the city and the Ontario and federal governments, claiming they were more concerned with tourism than with protecting public health. Williams, a nurse at North York General Hospital, contracted SARS after she was admitted last May as a patient for what she calls "a personal procedure," two weeks after officials suggested the outbreak was over and there would be no new cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome in the Toronto area. 9:33:51 PM ![]() |
