It reads like a bad informercial (Sorry Lloyd) but Lloyd Irvin's Grappling Blueprint emails are full of useful and interesting tips on the mental side of the grappling game. In fact, they're applicable to any form of sports requiring competitive training with partners, where the goal is for everyone to improve. With all the hype, can the Grappling Blueprint live up to the expectation when it is released? Whether it does it not, what's been sent so far has been useful information for me for both standup and grappling.
I especially liked the tip about keeping notes on what you did wrong. After a training analyze what you did wrong, work out why you were making the mistake, how to fix it and train to fix it so you don't make that mistake again. Maybe write it down in a notebook so you don't forget it. The idea being that eventually you start making less mistakes or doing silly things less often.
I'd heard this earlier at a John Wills seminar hosted by The Grappling Studio Wellington and the Lloyd Irvin email reminded me about it. I consider myself somewhat of an expert at repeating silly mistakes and doing the wrong thing so it was quite relevant to me. Another couple of times being crushed in side control and I'm sure it'll sink in...
