Whataya mean I've got an attitude? :~)
Merger could spawn more copy-proof CDs. Macrovision agrees to buy rival Midbar Tech, in hopes that companies' combined efforts can overcome resistance from music fans and record labels to anti-copying technology for CDs--and spread its reach. [CNET News.com]

They might overcome the record labels' resistance, but I doubt that music fans' attitudes will be affected.  Copy-protection is a bad idea, even to us non-pirates that like to use what we buy.  Maybe they ought to work on limiting how many times we may listen to a CD, too, so that we'll have to to buy it again (and again) if we really like the music.  I'm sure the record labels would love the idea.  Stupid bastards!

What's in a name?
I find it interesting that the site newsfeeds has 170 users subscribing to it, even though it hasn't been updated since November, 2001.  Perhaps that says something about how one misses out by never actually visiting the websites one "reads" in a news aggregator...

on the "survey" regarding online CD sales
Daniel Berlinger:  "Don't believe the hype folks. Ask question about the 'data' they're presenting."

Daniel's comments were in response to a Yahoo! article about the survey, which I won't link to because they use pop-under advertising.  I agree with his comments...
