Yesterday came the news that Bill Gates "pledged $100 million to fight AIDS in India." I thought that was great and almost posted something about it. For whatever reason, I deleted the item from my aggregator (from a different source whom I can't recall now) and moved on to other things.
This morning, the following story appeared in my aggregator, via CNET:
Microsoft to stake $400 million in India:
"Today, India is of strategic importance to our business and will continue to be so, as its developer and skill base continues to grow," said Gates, who was visiting India for the third time.Good for the people that will benefit from Gates' personal pledge to fight AIDS. That's an important fight and I'll call Gates' gesture generous. But, I can't help but wonder if he even realizes how it looks from this side of the fence.
