Linux, Python, and the PlayStation 2 follow-up

Yesterday, I posted about the Linux PS2 kit.

Bill Bumgarner points out that in the Linux for PS2 FAQ they specifically mention that the hard drive formatted for Linux can't be used with regular PS2 games.

It will NOT enhance your PlayStation 2 games. The hard disc drive formatted for Linux can NOT be used with HDD-compatible PlayStation 2 games.

Argh! So, I guess that in addition to the Linux kit, a PS2 user might need a separate HDD kit for standard games. Hmm, I guess we'll have to wait and see how much support the HDD gets later this year. Trying to swap drives is probably going to be a pain, so a separate PS2 might be needed if you expected to do much actual work with the Linux kit.
