Software Design Patterns for Flash Remoting
An interesting article by Sean Corfield (Head of Architecture at Macromedia) on using patterns in Rich Internet Applications. Discusses the Facade pattern in relation to an e-commerce site. Sean also has a blog [via mesh on mx]

I have a feeling Flash developers are going to have to get serious about software engineering over the next year or so. In the past the limitations of Flash (and size of projects) have meant we've gone about our development in a bit of an ad-hoc way (with some notable exceptions.) MX raises the bar - we're going to be building large systems with MX that integrate many different technologies. Articles like Sean's and Sam & Branden's forthcoming book are the start of a discussion that will run and run.

Macromedia & Open Source
SWFNews have a story on Macromedia applying to the Open Source Initiative for license approval. What could it be? Lots of speculation (open source AMF please!) but your guess is as good as anybodies (apart from JD ;) at the moment.
