What I like about emailing senators is that they don't reply. Ask a politician a question in person, and they'll talk, even if they don't say anything. If you email your bank asking about security given that Microsoft's browsers are vulnerable to all kinds of hacks, they'll email you back that everything is safe and fine -- some script approved by by legal and marketing. I'd rather get nothing. Even better is Bush's approach: "Who cares what you think?"
