"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

Quite serious, really....

A musician was banned from playing at Border's because she made fun of Bush as having "chicken legs". The musician is also a weight lifter.

Imagine criticizing Adolf Hitler's legs in 1938 Germany. It would probably be enough to get you fired. The consequences might have been even worse.

Now imagine criticizing President Clinton's legs. No job loss.

The point is that an appointed leader out to wreck a nation and enrich his cronies has to attack any sign of criticism, lest the criticisms multiply. The corporate media must not denounce such attacks.

And every time someone loses a job, we are less free and less democratic.

Shame on Border's for not immediately canceling the ban and establishing a long-term contract with the musician. Shame on the media for ignoring the story. Shame on America for letting such things happen here.

Thanks to the vile thugs who have seized the Republican party and the government, the choices are starkly clear. What kind of America do we want? I want *my* country back.

The state of the union is dim, indeed.

The Dimwit's polls down; a new terror threat is imminent. Unlike previous phony threats, The Dimwit claims this is a "real threat".

"Wolf!" he cries to the wind.

The next paragraph in all the news articles says the source is a captured Al Qaeda dude, and nobody really believes him yet. They don't believe him because -- apparently -- all captured Al Qaeda dudes brag about the attacks that are in the works. The articles don't mention that pattern, or the pattern of these threats coming when Bush's poll numbers go down, or that all previous threats that Bush personally trumpeted were phony.

If conquering Iraq made us safer, then this threat couldn't be real, could it? Or did conquering Iraq not make us safe? We note -- ka-ching -- another billion bucks have been slated for Halliburton. In a dark hole, DICK smiles.
