Rhino here: This Thursday & Friday, the award winning documentary I directed along with Yaqui / Huichol film maker Fidel Moreno, will air on WorldLink TV. "Wiping The Tears Of Seven Generations". It's a program that tells the story of another episode of the U.S. Military's legacy, which the white skinned historians call a battle, but the dark skinned historians know as a massacre. It also tells the inspiring story of the 100 years of healing from that episode. Catch it on WorldLink TV via DIREC TV (Channel 375) or DISH Network (Channel 9410). THIS WEEK (Feb. 13th & 14th) ON FIRST PEOPLES TV "Wiping the Tears of Seven Generations" In December of 1990, 300 Lakota Sioux horseback riders rode 250 miles, in two weeks, through bitter sub-zero winter weather, to commemorate the lives lost at the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890. This program relates the story of how the Lakota Nation mourned the loss of their loved ones for 100 years. They also mourned the loss of some of their people's sacred knowledge which died with the elders that day. Then, inspired by dreams and visions of unity and spiritual awakening, a group of Lakota decided to bring their people out of mourning through a traditional Lakota ceremony which they call Washigila, or "Wiping the Tears." The Bigfoot Ceremonial Ride was that ceremony. QUOTE OF THE DAY "We will export death and violence to the four corners of the earth in defense of this great nation." - - George W. Bush RHINO HERE: I urge you to arrange your plans for this weekend to get out in the streets & protest!!! This week marks the time when 2 million Muslims from around the world make their way to Mecca to participate in the holy pilgrimage called Hajj, something every Muslim is supposed to do sometime in their life, if they have the means. This year Hajj is under the shadow of the threat of war in the Middle East. Agence France-Presse article entitled, "Two million Muslims pray for forgiveness, peace in Iraq" http://sg.news.yahoo.com/030210/1/379h9.html As the shrug gang escalates its war public relations campaign, France, Germany, China, Russia and others are all voicing their opposition to preemptive war on Iraq, much to the chagrin of rummie & the boyz. London Times article entitled, "European allies unite against US-led war" http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,1-572838,00.html The dissent from "Old Europe" as Rummie called them, is largely due to the shoddy evidence that General Powell (never forget he's a general first) presented to the U.N. For a detailed dissection of his ridiculous pundit convincing presentation, check out: ZNet article, "Powell's Flimsy Evidence" by Maria Tomchick http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=15&ItemID=3009 Lots of bickering between the NATO "allies" over whether to provide military aid to Turkey for protection from attack by Iraq, Turkey being one of the few Muslim countries willing to participate in the war on Iraq. Turkey also being a country whose army (U.S. funded and supplied) has wreaked genocide on it's Kurdish population. See the documentary "Good Kurds, Bad Kurds" now airing on WorldLink TV Belgium has now promised to block any NATO attempt to provide arms to Turkey. Washington Post article entitled, "Belgium to Block NATO Military Aid for Turkey" http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A49344-2003Feb9.html And this weekend's protests scheduled for cities around the world are expected to bring MILLIONS of people into the streets. Organizers say these will be the largest anti-war protests in world history. shrub & the gang got ya down? Check out these 2 web sites. United For Peace http://www.unitedforpeace.org/ Stop The War Coalition http://stopwar.org.uk/ Even with the Middle East being the most unstable region of the world, the shrub gang thinks its a good idea to go kicking the hornets nest. With their coalition breaking down and the world citizenry expected in the streets this weekend, Rhino wonders, how far are these gangsters willing to go to get what they want? FLASH! SCOOP! EXTRA! EXTRA! NEW BIN LADEN AUDIO TAPE APPEARS IN OFFICES OF AL JEZERRA Just like the 9/11 attacks, this new tape is just what the bushies needed to shove their agenda forward. In spite of the fact that it's common knowledge that Fundamentalist Osama & Secular Saddam have never seen eye to eye, and in spite of the fact that there is no real evidence that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11 or evidence that he has any ties to Osama, we are supposed to believe its all one big conspiracy. It seems everyone involved is taking advantage of the situation, except Saddam. Assuming the tape is Osama and he really does run the terrorist organization purported, then he's taking advantage of the shrub war drums to gain more recruits. This all to the chagrin of Saddam who really rather not get bombed to hell & high water thanks anyway. The shrub gang is taking advantage of the situation in that even though they cant provide believable evidence of the connection between Iraq & Al Queda, now they can use this tape to make their point (to those that lap up the tri-letter P.R.). This in spite of the fact that all Bin Laden says is something like (depending on who's translating) the people of Iraq should rise up against the attackers and if Saddam & his secular troops wanna participate in our Jihad, that's okay. Then again, what if the tape is a fraud, possibly the voice of one of Osama's 50 some odd siblings, most of whom are in cahoots with their Dad, who's commonly known as a business buddy of papa bush, then what? Then the gang has their "proof", the fear factor in America reaches new heights (ORANGE ALERT - Do you have your duct tape & plastic?) and all the dissenters including the governments of France & Germany are supposed to look like fools. Opps! Have I been on a rant? Sorry. Just the ramblings of a left leaning hippie who knows he's been lied to by his government one time too many. THE BOTTOM LINE is a scary bit indeed. Rhino says, "Read at your own risk".

by MICHAEL ORTIZ HILL, CounterPunch, 1/4/03 "We are lived by forces we scarcely understand," wrote W.H. Auden. What forces live us now as America again torques toward war? George W. Bush is certainly the plaything of such forces as the geopolitics of oil but it seems that he is susceptible to other even darker archetypal concerns. Let me be blunt. The man is delusional and the shape of his delusion is specifically apocalyptic in belief and intent. That Bush would attack so many vital systems on so many fronts from foreign policy to the environment may seem confusing from the point of view of realpolitik but becomes transparent in terms of the apocalyptic worldview to which he subscribes. All systems are supposed to go down so the Messiah can come and Bush, seemingly, has taken on the role of the one who brings this to pass. The Reverend Billy Graham taught Bush to live in anticipation of the Second Coming but it was his friendship with Dr. Tony Evans that shaped Bush's political understanding of how to deport himself in an apocalyptic era. Dr. Evans, the pastor of a large Dallas church and a founder of the Promise Keepers movement taught Bush about "how the world should be seen from a divine viewpoint," according to Dr. Martin Hawkins, Evans assistant pastor. S.R. Shearer of Antipas Ministries writes, "Most of the leaders of the Promise Keepers embrace a doctrine of 'end time' (eschatology), known as 'dominionim.' Dominionism pictures the seizure of earthly (temporal) power by the 'people of God' as the only means through which the world can be rescued.... It is the eschatology that Bush has imbibed; an eschatology through which he has gradually (and easily) come to see himself as an agent of God who has been called by him to 'restore the earth to God's control', a 'chosen vessel', so to speak, to bring in the Restoration of All Things." Shearer calls this delusion, "Messianic leadership"-- that is to say usurping the role usually ascribed to the Messiah... READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE AT: http://www.counterpunch.org/hill01042003.html
