Wrap Collab around WebLog: want to discuss or work / play further with this topic (memerising)? Click here to join a topic that I've created on coachingplatform: it provides a workspace with discussion forum, shared libraries, etc. This weblog is the home page of that topic...
A weblog tends to be a linear stream of messages originating from my identity. You can wrap a collab perpendicular to that, allowing others to attach messages and documents (pointers and uploaded files).

IAM: Identity Asset Management. What is my identity? Me and my creations. Me and my stuff: all the things I've made pointing back to me. Likewise, anything else pointing to me. Works kind of like google :-)
Living life on the net, you and your stuff are all over the net, and you need to keep track of it / yourself.
Re enabling / implementation software, you need:
- Addressability of all your resources (they all have URIs)
- Association of those with your identity (you have a net-resolvable identity)
The tools, to maintain maximum opennness and interoperability on the net, seem to be:
- DSML - Directory Services Markup Language
- LDAP - Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, for managing multiple identities and identity servers (LDAP servers now more and more speak DSML)
- Local identity stoars (e.g., in an XML database such as Xindice), referring to global LDAP servers (to act as local identity cache)

Lord of the Robots: an interview with Rodney Brooks of the MIT AI Lab about pervasive robotics and computing... (and don't forget all those kids making their Lego robots with programmable RCX bricks, with motors and sensors.) He says, "With our prototype H21s, when you pick one up and use it, it recognizes your face and customizes itself to you..."
Identity management, as you move from environment to environment, is the key here. More later...
