I'm with Mark, I'm 1/3 through a course of antibiotics from what is now threatening to become my annual sinus infection/fall allergy action. NOT FUN.

Tivo Meets the Nielsens
Nielsen, TiVo Try Ratings Game. The famous TV ratings company links up with the real-time recorder to come up with a new way to measure a new audience. By Steve Friess. [Wired News]
No mention if it will log commercial skipping or not. Still, it's a good way to see what people are watching and when. While it is limited to only 20 families at the moment, I imagine that it could be rolled out quickly to all combo Nielsen/Tivo families if either party was interested.

Go Cringely!
Open Source TV [Slashdot]
Robert X Cringely describes his plan for NerdTV. Pretty cool, he'll be shooting on some JVC PAL miniDV camcorders, with progressive scan CCDS. That streamlines the conversion process and saves on frames per second for when they go go stream it out.
Additionally, the show is coming out in three versions, Nerd, Suit, and Raw, allowing end users to choose which show they want to watch (This Program is rated N for Nerds, by the Open Source Broadcasting Network.)

A Good Start for Solar
A Role for Solar, but It's a Cameo. BP Amoco has 157 solar-powered gasoline stations in the United States and 220 throughout 16 other nations, with plans for more. By Phil Patton. [New York Times: Science]
I'm glad to see someone doing this, as I think local co-generation is the way to go in the future. Being able to both generate (via solar/wind) and store (flywheel) energy locally will go a long way towards both lowering the cost of such installations as well as minimizing brownouts during peak load times.

I don't think we can
Man, Machine: Can't We Get Along?. Sometimes it's hard not to think machines are out to get us. An unusual art installation in Dublin examines people's relationship with electronic devices. Daithí Ó hAnluain reports from Ireland. [Wired News]
We saw this show when we were at the Guinness tour in Dublin, and it was pretty cool to see that they would give up some space for an art exibit.
