On Arming Pilots
No Guns in Flight. In an attempt to make America more safe, Congress has approved legislation that will make flying more dangerous. By Dave Barger. [New York Times: Politics]
Counterpoint: Congress is allowing pilots to be armed, not requiring it. The other issues are pretty simple as well: FBI agents fly with their guns (From the few I've met, they all but shower with their guns), as do Air Marshals. I'm sure that there are systems in place to get these folks through the airports while armed, simply apply the same rules to pilots who choose to carry.
I think that the reinforced doors that JetBlue has chosen to outfit their planes with is a great idea, and I applaud them for doing so, however it is not the only solution.
