In today at 7:45.

So today I'll start focusing on software testing in this weblog.  My view of software testing is probably a little bit different from that of most folks in that every tester on my team at work is also a developer.  Another difference is that our team writes our own test automation framework.  The main reason for this is that no commercial test automation tool can target our product until it's shipped but we need to test it before it gets shipped.

One of the big issues we're facing now is investigating the creation of a test automation framework for use by all tools teams in our company.  Currently, each team has implemented their own framework and it makes sense to see if we could avoid reinventing the wheel for each group when their test automation needs are very similar.  One of the complications that I thought we'd have would be cultural differences between the groups.  Now that we have started getting to know each other I was surprised that there was not that much of an issue there.  There are differences but so far I don't think we've come up against any show stoppers.

Once I get a chance I'll add a Software Testing Links page to this site.
