Law, technology, and the courts

I'm still working diligently on the templates for the set of pages inside the site at the WV Supreme Court.  I'll be using Radio to render a series of category pages to organize the output of regular opinion summaries I author.  In the current workflow, I author the summaries as text files, then post to an e-mail subscriber list.  Next, I compile the summaries (via cut and paste) on a single HTML page, organized by topic in reverse chronological order.  A big disavantage of this system is that a lot of cutting and pasting is involved, and the summary pages can grow long and difficult to read.

Using Radio, I can author once and publish to several sources.  As a busy lawyer and Clerk of Court, this means a lot to me.  Using categories, I will be organizing opinion summaries in other additional formats that will be helpful to the public and practitioners.  In addition to Recent Opinions, I'll be adding a series of high-level topical pages: Criminal, Civil, Family, etc.  I can route opinion summaries to these pages, as well as news and conference results pertaining to these topical areas.

>>Caveat: If you're like me and know only a smidgeon about HTML and XML, the learning curve with Radio can seem steep.  Expect to spend a couple of days reading documentation and discussion posts and looking at the source of various pages before things come together.    I found this list of tutorials in Adny Sylvester's directory to be very useful.
