Rory Perry's Weblog Law, technology, and the courts

AP - Blogs are good for courtsAP: "Weblog software allows the court's site to provide constantly updated "information feeds" for civil, criminal and family law news."
This article quotes me on the value of blogs for courts as a public information tool. Complete with references to referrer logs! The article was picked up by Government Technology. I gave the interview to local AP reporter Lawrence Messina last week, focusing on three things we've done recently to use the Internet to improve access to the court:
The flavor of the article is dead-on: we try to deliver good government services on the cheap. Which means that the Clerk does sometimes flip the switch for the webcast, and run the weblog, and administer the opinion listserv, etc. (Where were the xml classes in law school, anyway? Wasn't a one of the inventors of markup languages a lawyer?) One slight correction: the article implies that weblogging started in journalism circles. My quote actually refers to the debate surrounding blogs as reporting tools, which is showing no sign of abating. 5:01:14 PM [Permanent Link]
