Feedster Images

Just a comment -- I'm seeming more than a few smiley face icons, XML icons, blogshares buttons etc -- you know the general "iconry" that makes up the blog world.  So I've got a large job running which should clear that up quite accurately but it'll take some time to run   So for now, no one needs to bother telling me about errors.

What If O'Reilly Ruled the Blogging Universe?

Would all our blogs have images like this on our sidebar ?

And if anyone has a non-Camel woodcut I can replace the camel with, that would be appreciated.  I was surprised that there wasn't a "Make Woodcut" plugin to the Gimp.

Well I clearly wrote the high level summary but Halley wrote the expose.  Well worth reading.  Tidbit:

Okay, Betsy for some reason goes into this wonderful thing about watching Russell Crowe in Gladiator chain mail doing a strip tease and if such a thing were to occur, and Russell was dropping one heavy metal garment after another, chain mail, breastplate, sword sheath, how hot would this be ... but wait, how NOISY would this be?! Very noisy.  More ...

Halley left out my addition to this point (#1) and a new point (#2):

1. When you do the laundry, there's a whole rust factor to consider.  Maybe Murphy's "Oil Soap"?
2. Just to get the laundry down to the wash, you need maids who look like russian weight lifters.

Download of the Day: WinSCP -- Or Just Say No to FTP

WinSCP, a SCP (secure copy protocol) client for Windows just keeps getting better and better.  Yesterday my fingers got tired when I went to upload some files for Halley to download so I installed WinSCP and **nice**!  Recommended.

If you're still using FTP and your machine supports SCP (which if you can SSH into it then it probably does) you should take a look.

But Scott, Its Sunday -- There Aren't Any Pictures or It Ain't Movable Type Baby!

Note: No disrespect to Ben and Mena -- Movable Type is an outstanding product but this is something I see in too many MT installations.

So I just surfed on over to Feedster Images and found **Nothing**.  Ack!  Foo!  Run in circles, scream and shout!  Must be crashed!  Oh.  Doh!  Its sunday morning at 5 am and blogdom is on its weekend hiatus status.  Even worse since its Sunday.  A few if statements to broaden my query if returns 0 and now Feedster automatically defaults to serving you up some images.  If it can't find any images for today then it tries yesterday and if not that then the day before yesterday.

The Movable Type reference is that in some MT installations, if you don't update regularly, when it rolls around to the next month your blog all of a sudden looks like its crashed.  Example.
