Time for another drug experiment. My doc has suggested that I try Neurontin at a low dose for some of my CFS issues. I've been reluctant - I am really tired of being a pharmaceutical dartboard. However, I decided that since I've been feeling somewhat punk for the past two months, that I should give it a whirl. So, I took 100 mgs this evening. We'll see how it goes.

One issue I wrestled with was what to do about my nightly 2.5 mg dose of Ambien. I've been taking Ambien for sleep for the past four months. I'm not that fond of it - it doesn't help with Stage 4 sleep and I wake up with it quite a bit.  But it does pack an initial wallop and I wasn't sure how it would react with the Neurontin.

So what to do - I do want to get off of the Ambien and would love to replace it with Neurontin. But do I just go cold turkey off of my micro dose of Ambien? If I take my full 2.5 mgs, how will it react with the Neurontin? Should I cut the Ambien to 1.25mgs? What a muddle this all is!

Finally, I flipped a coin (not really) and decided to cut my Ambien to 1.25 mgs and take the Neurontin. I actually can already feeling it taking effect - to quote Jethro Tull my head is beginning to feel as "Thick as a Brick."
