Wired News: Palladium: Safe or Security Flaw? Earlier this week, Palladium architects from Microsoft and AMD provided Wired News with separate under-the-hood tours of the software and hardware technology plans behind Palladium's high concept pitch. The good/bad news: As described, Palladium won't meet most of the hyperbolic claims being made for it. [Tomalak's Realm]

If you're a PDA junkie, you gotta love this. Thanks again SL!
Upgrade Internal PDA Memory.
Palm Pilot Upgrades
"PalmPilot owners! Are you satisfied with the memory or CPU speed in your PDA? In today's complex world with hundreds of new applications coming out each week, you might like to have more memory for program storage in your PalmPilot.
Some time ago when PalmIII™ was a top of the line model, I started to run out of memory as quickly as I became dependent on the convenience of my new handheld computer. My Electrical Engineering background gave me the challenge and the opportunity to research the issue and to come up with an easy and inexpensive solution: the 8 Mb memory upgrade! My friends and their friends promptly lined up for the service. A web site followed and the rest was history....
When I started my business 3 years ago I quickly learned that there are two most important issues for my clients. The first is a successful upgrade without changing the unit's appearance. I can relate to that, so I make sure every Palm looks exactly like it did before the upgrade. I also developed a special test program insuring worry-free results. The 48-hour test became my trademark and I guarantee that not one unit escapes it. The second issue of importance is a quick turnaround time without wasting a single day. I make a special point not to keep my clients waiting for their little helpers."
I wish I had known about this when I first got my Clie, because it would have been the first thing I would have done with it. This would cost me $109 (plus return shipping), but it's probably worth it for power users. It costs even less for older Palms, so it's a viable option for folks that are perfectly happy with the PDA they bought a year or two ago but who would like more memory.
Rudenko can upgrade most Palms and even some PocketPCs. [The Shifted Librarian]

I love the goal of this idea. Simputer Runs Into Problems [Slashdot: Index]
I think there is also a need for an even simpler user interface. Of the people I know that resist getting and or using a computer, besides money, there are a few reasons that keep popping up when I talk to them.
- They don't type.
- They don't see what they could get from the effort
- Everything about the experience seems very foreign.

dennisRadio... I got started in the computer age with this program. Probably did my first real 'work' on a computer with VisiCalc. Used it on an Atari 800. That was a little while ago.
On this day three years ago, Dan Bricklin got permission to release VisiCalc for free on the Web. [Scripting News]
