Incidentally, if you like what I write, check out my other weblog on my server. It also has a picture gallery. The blog software there is my own, the type that is held together with unreasonable amounts of duct tape. If I know you, ask me for an account and you will get to see even more pictures. And more rants as well.

Google will no longer show weblogs in the standard search page. It was suspicious how quickly bloggers appeared at the top when searching for something that also happened to be a popular blogging topic. I noticed that by merely making a couple of blog entries in the hosted Radio blog of Userland I could effortlessly stand atop a self-made mole-hill. Well, google has caught on and may have a separate section for the bloggers. It makes sense to me but I'm sure there are others who, having been kicked off their hill, will disapprove. For the common good, however, I believe that Google is moving in the right direction. ordinary users who want to see authoritative references to a topic will no longer be presented with a surface-skimming blog. But, how is Google going to distinguish between a blog and something that is not?
