To the Editor: She, Too, Dreams of Being Spider-Person.

In attesting to Spider-Man's universal appeal, his co-creator, Stan Lee, writes ("That's My Spidey," Op-Ed, May 3): "Spidey's costume is completely user-friendly. Any reader, of any race, in any part of the world, can imagine himself under that costume — and fantasize that he himself is Spider-Man."

Does this hold true for girls and women as well?

[New York Times: Opinion]

The letter-writer makes several good points.  We hesitate be indelicate, but given this report in Salon, we wonder whether bathroom breaks might be at least as problematic for persons not of Tobey's gender as he reported them to be.

(Slaps self on wrist, hisses "Bonzo! Hush!")
