Bob Dylan must be the first musician in history whose unreleased songs are as well known, and in many cases better, than his officially issued work.
This is an excellent article about the wide world of Dylan bootleg music, underground as well as "official".

By the way, if you've noticed that I have resumed posting music content on the home page, it's because I have decided to abandon the idea of a separate music page. Since I am not writing very much in general these days, I don't like the idea of readers who are primarily interested in music having to click through to another page in order to see if there is new content. Anyway, I am going to redesign the home page sometime during the next few months.
