BeVocal is to sack 40% of its bodies and hand its hosting biz over to BellSouth, with whom it announced a CARS-511 (Travel Information) service for 8 US states in early July.
We may continue to see this kind of specialisation in voice services, with platform + hosting or development + hosting being provided by partnerships. Eg: Voicegenie + Voxeo + Audium which is going after Tellme. However, some development + hosting companies still exist, and are still good at it!

Voicexmlplanet reviews the developer services for Tellme, BeVocal, Voxeo, Audium, Nuance, Telera etc... but, after an admittedly brief glance, seems to provide a How-To for each rather than saying "If you want to do X, then go with company Z".
