And yet some people think that schools should teach [technology] in a CS curriculum. I feel strongly that we should teach concepts and have students learn the technologies on their own, with support, but not hand-holding.

If someone posted an article like this one about GNU/Linux or BSD, Slashdot would be all over it. However, someone saying that "The kernel in XP is not fully protected against what application programs might do; the kernel in Unix is" will just slide by.
