It's funny how the things that pass as okay when a woman does them to a man are sometimes treated as mortal sins if the roles are reversed. Take for instance a slap in the face. It can be considered mandatory for a woman to do it to a man on many occasions, but reverse the roles and all of a sudden it is never okay. Without getting into the whys and wherefores, let me just close with a humorous and exagerated take on this by an old friend of mine in the context of chick movies.

Sadly, as in most Oxygen-like material I've watched, the plot is only advanced once the male becomes totally emasculated [Corpse Divine].

How true it is. Okay, well maybe that is an overreaction, but a much needed overreaction. The pendulum swings and in our current social climate, I feel that women's needs are perceived as being of higher import than men's needs. Yes, we've all heard the classic argument that since men are the dominate class that it's only fair that women's needs are the focus. Whatever. You can't meet women's needs separately from men's. So, I vote "no" on perpetuating the double-standard. 12:00:55 PM  permalink  comment []

It's been quite a while since I did a search for my name in Google. In the past when I would search for my name, I couldn't find any pages actually referring to me. There are a lot of Christopher Taylor's in the world and the importance of my weblog in relation to my name was very low on Google. Today, I decided to try again and Synthetic Morpheme actually showed up as the fifth result! [Google]. That was a pleasant surprise. I guess my weblog has gained a little bit of importance on Google. 9:03:37 AM  permalink  comment []
