Last night I made it out again to Hillbilly night at Johnny D's. My friend Brian Claflin played all original music that I would describe as folk, rock, gospel, blues - just good American roots music. He is an amazing talent and its great to see him making music and performing again. And it really helped ease all that angst I was carrying around from my "God Bless America" rant. Just like that driver the other day reminded me about all the things I hate about this place, Brian brought me back to all the things I love about it. Inspiring stuff Brian! Really got me thinking again about what's important to me and my life.
Brian and I were best friends in the fourth grade. We made up puppet shows and other wacky stuff. He moved up to Maine and I never heard from him until about 2 years ago. If you are ever in the Boston area, check him out. Not sure he has a regular gig yet but I'll post an announcement here when I find out about his next show.
