Something happens to you, then what happens to Fluffy?  IN [Fort Wayne News Sentinel] A good friend of mine who works at an animal shelter told me that many pets end up in shelters when their caretakers pass on, even though the pets were willed to trusted relatives... It's a dog-eat-too-much world, and a crazy world too!: liposuction for a fat dog NC [Rocky Mount Telegram] What kind of maniacs are we to do to dogs what we do to ourselves? First, get the dog fat, and THEN make it get liposuction so it won't waddle too much...

So, your dog is fat; no big news there. We're all too fat. But before you put your dog on a diet, have it checked out by a vet first; both of our dogs were recently diagnosed as hypothyroid, a condition often overlooked, but one that causes sluggishness and often, weight gain. Like a dog drawn to a bone, I can't keep away from Microsoft's Windows' XP Service Pack 2 RC2, even though my first install transformed my computer into a slow behemoth with a stalled screen and no toolbars. Undeterred, I uninstalled, tinkered with my computer's virtual memory settings and then tried again. This time, it worked, but the Service Pack had broken Norton's Internet Security and I couldn't update the virus protection or the Firewall; in fact, I was told to uninstall Norton's Firewall and reinstall it... ugh. So, again, I uninstalled SP2RPC2.. But not before checking out some of the intriguing new : DCOM is now enabled, by default, and if you disable it  you'll disable many other services. I've always heard that DCOM was useless, or even worse, a huge security risk (Dcombobulator). Microsoft has also included many more choices in customizing Internet Explorer's security settings. [BetaNews; Os News, Dailyrotation]  Bottom line: this update will probably disrupt some software's operation. Has anyone used Radioland with XP's SP2 RC2 installed?

Take your dog to work day, Friday, June 25 US Nearly 62% of US household include a pet dog, and of those 65 million dogs, a growing percentage will enjoy a day at work with their human companions. Ensure good memories for all by only bringing pets who are well-trained, quiet, house-trained and friendly. 'Don't forget to doggie-proof your work area, and take along comforts from home like a toy, treats, food, food dish, leash, bed, crate or anything else that will make your dog comfortable...'
