I slept last night for the first time in my Sierra Designs Alpha CD. Despite the discomfort of the ground when my ground pad deflated, despite the howling matches between the dogs and the coyotes, despite the over heated sleeping bag, I rested comfortable in the knowledge that I was in the hands of great tent designers. Still didn't sleep, but I slumbered well.
Being out on the farm again was pleasing to me. Coming back with no poison ivy was amazing, given how many poison ivy plants I must have mowed down with the walk behind. My shoulders ache from holding onto that 17-horse power monstrosity. That horse power thing amazes me - I wonder if that literally means that it puts out the equivalent of 17 full grown Simons (who is a most fetching horse, in looks and personality) - but I can't imagine controlling a team of 17 horses. Benjamin, their new ruff collie, is also a sweetheart. I wasn't sure whether I was bonding with him more because of his name, or bonding with him less, trying avoidance to prevent bonding with him just because of his name, but regardless, I enjoyed hanging out with him, sharing a little stick throwing, or just having him outside my tent.
