One of the things that concerns me about politicians responding to polls is that the republic is replaced by, worse than plebiscite rule (which would be fine, if each individual had estates of the mind), pandering to people's worst instincts, until their instincts are further debased. Bush and his ultimate penalty. Is he delivering the will of his Jesus? Has his self-professed born again Christendom given him the power to give life and death, as God's representative here on earth?
