Or, as Stephen Jay Gould said, God is in the details:

Frans Lanting: A Journey Through Time. In [base "]Life: A Journey Through Time,[per thou] renowned nature photographer Frans Lanting evokes the history of life on Earth in a breathtaking multimedia display featuring the spellbinding music of Philip Glass. [Apple Hot News]

The Apple Pro story about how Lanting, Glass, and crew pulled together Life is considerably more detailed and revealing than anything they said before or after the premiere concert at the Cabrillo Festival in August. I would have liked to hear about some of the process described here instead of the generalized ambiguous non-answers we heard that night. And frankly, Glass's music was a bit disappointing: he's not writing much new these days, just recycling existing material. Still, it was a rare treat to experience a world premiere of a work such as this; and I picked up a signed copy of Lanting's book to share with the family.
