Dennis Elliott knows that trashing a former employer who canned him will sound like sour grapes...but what the hell. "WSJS...they have the worst excuse for a talk show in the afternoon that I have ever heard. I know Mike Finley (sic) and he is personally a nice guy, but Mike just sounds like he is going through the paces." Dennis also reports that a Freeper responds to the NY Times report that Fahrenheit 9/11 got a standing O in GSO by saying: "Anyone who knows anything about Greensboro knows it is a liberal mecca in a sea of conservatism. Home of the civil rights sit-ins and where Jesse Jackson went to school. Home of UNC-Greensboro or UNC-Gay as it is called around here. Home to some of the most liberal minded people in this part of the country." I'm not sure that was supposed to be a compliment. 12:17:00 PM comment [] |
Yesterday the whistles blew and the lifeguards ordered everyone out of the water. A shark? No, the guards were in the water, just past the surf line, diving in a synchronized line. A drill, maybe...but then word filtered up the beach: a five-year-old girl was missing. It was tense, scary. Dads comforted their own kids: maybe she had run after an ice cream truck and was lost just a block or two away. Surely someone would have seen her in the water... Details drifted across the sand: she wore a yellow bathing suit, had brown hair. That made it realer, scarier. The Coast Guard was alerted. Then a new word spread from stranger to stranger, family to family, standing in knots on the beach: the child was safe, having wandered a mile or so down the strand, no doubt singing happily to herself the whole way, oblivious to the scene in her wake. 10:19:17 AM comment [] |
Jay Rosen has some advice for Bill Gates as Gates reportedly mulls a weblog. "Instead of, 'I need a blog myself,' start at: I need a self to blog with." 10:07:25 AM comment [] |
