Jarvis is at a cool conference about the present and future of the web. This post was good, scroll up and down for more.

"Big news: English is no longer more than half of the blogosphere."

Jeff also mentions the rise of corporate blogs. As usual, Guilford County is in the game, and also a player in another aspect of business blogging.

We will fact-check your ass, or at least inadvertently cause others to do so: the accuracy-challenged Iraq punditry of Tim Chavez came to national prominence, so far as I can tell, after being promoted by Instapundit; the fact-checking then began at Romenesko; Reynolds pointed to the reactions; Chavez gave an incomplete apology; and now his editor says that columns by Chavez "will receive more scrutiny from here on out."

Peer editing ain't no joke.

Jeff Jarvis: "There, ladies and gentlemen, is the last nail in the coffin of broadcast as the central medium in America. And the FCC hammered it in.

The age of one-size-fits-all media is over but the FCC and Congress don't want to admit it and so they are not allowing TV and radio to compete with the tremendous choice and freedom now available on cable, satellite, and the internet -- and soon via ubiquitous broadband and podcasting and all that."

NASCAR don't make no sense, chapter 243: You lose points for cursing.

A fine for Dale Jr. is fine. But let his performance on the track speak for itself.

N&R sports blogger Jim Young:"(D)oesn't it seem just a little bit strange that Robby Gordon's intentional wrecking of Greg Biffle - which took out Cup Contenders Tony Stewart and Jeremy Mayfield - drew only a two-lap penlty from NASCAR, while Lil' E's jubilant S word drew a 25-point penalty?"

Cheney has tried to link Saddam to 9/11. Josh Marshall cites chapter and verse.

I found the debate last night tough to judge because the styles of the two men were so different. Cheney is without doubt a serious and intelligent man, and his ability to command facts and non-facts that sound factual was impressive. Edwards is a skilled presenter and didn't get rattled under intense fire, then managed to fire back without sounding mean. I prefer the dry Cheney style, which I'm sure puts me in a distinct minority, but I prefer the Edwards message, which seems to put me within a margin-of-error of a majority.

The N&R runs an guest op-ed from a conservative local blogger, Michael Crouch.

Coupla hints, blogging buddy: update your site in the new posts section, not in comments to your original post;

And, you can keep talking about the connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda all you want, but unless you can explain how you know more about it than Donald "I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two" Rumsfeld, nobody's buying.
