•••Mac NWN "Tech Demo" Tomorrow? Bah.
Well, well, well. Something I can download besides a desktop picture or tester's screen shot of the Mac version of Neverwinter Nights coming up tomorrow, according to InsideMacGames. Most frustrated fans don't seem terribly impressed. I can't say I blame 'em really. No toolset, no expansion included, not even a price drop.
I feel badly for those who pre-ordered the thing when it was announced well over a year ago.
I've played and enjoyed the PC version, mostly single player. Even went out and bought a GeForce 2 card for my wintel box just to play it. It is a good game. Lots of decent downloadable modules to play. I like it very much.
I haven't done multiplayer except for a few times as my internet connection was, until recently, utterly unplayable. Now that a few weeks ago I stepped up to 802.11 wireless broadband, I simply haven't had the time to mess much with it.
For my fellow Clan Lord players who have not yet seen or tried Neverwinter Nights, I'd say it's got a very different feel than Clan Lord. Very different pace. It is not, in the end, an MMORPG. Many of the 'persistent world' servers tend to either be quite full or restricted, requiring a registration process before one can play on them.
Unfortunately, I'm very sad to say that I'm not in a hurry to buy the Mac version of NWN myself. I've got the PC version with full functionality. Shell out the same price for less on the Mac?
I can't imagine what BioWare and MacSoft must be thinking... other than "Dem Mac uzerz must be stoopid."
