We drove up to Outing, Minnesota for a quick visit to a cabin on Lake Roosevelt, named after a hunting trip to the region by President Teddy Roosevelt.
It was a good get-away and there were four kids there and they all had a ball together. We took out a pontoon boat and toured around. One of my favorite things about having kids is that it is so easy to impress them. It was the coolest thing in the world for them when I dove off the pontoon boat and started swimming around.
I found a book on the shelf there called "Left Behind". It said on the back, "One does not have to be a connoisseur of literature to enjoy this book." You can say that again. I read it, trying to peer into the mind of the personality behind it. If you haven't heard of it, it is a popular book about the rapture where people are driving along and suddenly disappear, letting their cars careen out of control among the poor bastards who have been "LEFT BEHIND". For some reason most of the people who were saved and are disappeared were into knitting and simple country craft. The anti-christ also shows up. He's Romanian.
I have no answers about the guys behind it.
