cheddarx November 7 1. What good did you do in the world today? Cut everyone some slack. 2. What fashion trend are you glad that's gone away? Or what trend are you waiting to go away? Obesity seems to be a leading fashion trend these days.  I'd vote for that. 3. What's your greatest sports moment, your own or one you've witnessed?  I remember once in ultimate frisbee, I poached the frisbee away from a guy who was trying to steal my girlfriend (look, we played Ultimate with different rules than you may be used to).  that felt pretty good.  In college swimming I beat a guy from Carleton in the mile literally by a few inches.   That felt like dying, but it is a good memory 4. Who would you nominate for the most annoying person award?  Ann Coulter, not that she has any impact what so ever. 5. What do you do to get yourself ready to write? Either blogging or other writing? (I.e. I'm a whiskey drinker and like to have a tumbler to sip from when I write fiction). Remind me never to read your fiction.  I just need an important deadline or two, then I think of lots of great things to write that have nothing to do with the deadline. 6. Mac or PC or Linux? Why? (I'm curious about this because it seems like the majority of bloggers I know are Mac folks but maybe I'm just wishfully thinking). November TCWEBDEV Meeting Notes just geek talk, sweet beautiful geek talk. The tcwebdev meeting last night was all about graphics, discussion led by Justin Heideman. One up and coming graphics format is jpeg2000.  It has a better compression algorithm than regular jpeg and the main advantage is smaller file sizes.  Mozilla has a plug-in for it, but IE and photoshop and other programs will not recognize it yet.  If you want to open a picture in jpeg2000 format, download the free irfanview software. Finally learned why Fireworks likes to save images as png files, because saving them as jpeg over and over again increases the loss that the compression brings.  PNG24 is lossless, so you don't have that problem PDF:  A reason to buy Adobe Distiller is that it can compress PDFs smaller than other software.  Color Suggestion to visit Target stores to take pictures and get good color combination ideas for web sites.  Or buy a $5.00 color guide book full of pallettes     5:41:00 AM    comment []
