Michael Imperioli's hairy nipples We watched A River Made to Drown In last night with Michael Imperioli, who plays Christopher on the Sopranos. Good movie. Gritty and visceral, it captures California really well. Palm trees under street lights. Rent boys on Santa Monica Boulevard. Imperioli plays an ex-prostitute who doesn't care about anything until his old friend who is dying of AIDS comes to stay with him. I kept expecting any of the three main characters to kill themselvs at any given moment. The acting seemed to fall off a cliff at times and periodically there would come this mish mash collage of scenes out of all order and sense that made me lose my bearings, but I enjoyed it just the same. When I was hitch hiking on the west coast, in certain parts of certain cities, large cars with middle aged men would pull up and ask me if I partied. I kind of knew they weren't just being friendly, but I hadn't seen My Own Private Idaho yet and the idea of young, male prostitutes was new to me. Eventually, I actually met some of these rent boys and began to understand the industry and how to avoid it. Anyway, the movie reminded me of California. 10:41:09 AM ![]() |
