People Publishing Via Unmediated.org
Citizen-Financed Media Revolution.

This is truly a technology of cooperation, by people whose work I've trusted and respected for years. Help grow the Youth Media Exchange, a free, open media publishing platform for youth media organizations worldwide. I'm committing myself for $100. I recommend it. Components of the project:

  • An online "commons" - FREE storage and bandwidth for any video we want to share online, provided by the Internet Archive. This alone has tremendous collective financial value.
  • Interfaces and tools - To level the playing field for access to that commons, no matter where you are or what language you speak, and to highlight the work most worthy of attention.
  • Mainstream exposure - YME will be working to finance development of television pilots for the best of the material, to be aired through Link TV, one of the partners that reaches 20M American homes, and other outlets.

  • Long-term sustainability - There is significant financial value in such a community of creators and viewers, and YME will also be working with the various partners to realize that as a nutrient for the whole ecosystem.

Ottmar Liebert's Album 'La Semana' Nearing Completion
Notes from Ottmar Liebert:

Friday. Music: the very faint sounds of a dishwasher
Mood: exhausted but elated
Almost done. I should deliver all of the visuals and text to our designer on Monday and the music is basically done. Jon Gagan had only a couple of suggestion regarding the mixes and it doesn't get much better than this:

Very cool journey. Nice work with the arrangements, and great guitar playing as well. Your imagination and vision with soundscapes is most impressive. The strong, sustained mood and the little touches will make this an album good for hearing over and over. Hooky tunes and kick-ass grooves! Really- great album. Congratulations. I can't wait for this to come out- I'm proud of my contribution, and I want to spread it around!
Well, the mountain on my back is slowly deflating into a hill....which I feel is manageable. Is "La Semana" a great album? Yes, it really is and I am very proud of it. Was it worth the hell I walked through to arrive here? Especially if I consider that most of my fans are not ready for the internet and we will probably only sell a few thousand copies of this album?

I don't know....and I really don't know. I mean, of course the pressure is largely self-inflicted and no record exec is breathing down my neck...but I have always been better than anybody in applying pressure to myself! Something is going to have to change...

I am hoping that we can release "La Semana" on June 1st, as the first date of the tour is June 10th and we would like to give you the chance to order the package before we take to the road... [Ottmar Liebert]
