Letter From Jim Pederson - Chair, AZ Dems Dear friends: Well, so much for the high road. Republicans just orchestrated one of the most negative conventions in America history. From Zell Miller's rant to Dick Cheney's snarl, Republicans are showing their true, bitter colors. But it wasn't just mean-spirited - it also offered few new plans and very little hope that America can do better. Maybe they should listen to their parents - "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." In his speech to the nation, George W. Bush did little to calm fears that a continued Bush presidency would lead to a larger deficit, a ballooning federal budget and a drastic cuts to social programs. In fact, the only person talking about the deficit during this convention was Wolf Blitzer - and I'm pretty sure he's not running for president. On Monday, we will be celebrating our nation's workforce with Labor Day events throughout the state. This is a great time to go to a barbeque or a parade, but it is also the unofficial start of what is shaping up to be a spirited political season. Of course, on Tuesday, it's your turn to get out and vote! If you have not received a vote by mail ballot for this primary election, be sure to go to your polling place on Election Day.
