StructuredBlogging.org Structured Blogging. Marc Canter, Salim Ismail and a few close friends just announced the Structured Blogging initiative at Syndicate. You can use their free plugins (currently available for Movable Type and WordPress) to publish specific types of posts (events, job listings, podcasts, etc.) using "structured" content (i.e. machine-readable code that supports a range of open standard microformats). Salim noted that blogging tools made it easy for individuals to publish (unstructured) HTML on their own sites, for free, but in order to publish (structured) XML, you have to go to a site like eBay or Craigslist, hand over your content...and pay for the privilege--a startling contrast. So Structured Blogging seeks to do for XML what Blogger, WordPress and Six Apart did for HTML--give us all the ability to publish our own structured content, while maintaining ownership and without paying additional costs. Youths Crave the Concrete Youths crave the concrete. A growing number of Native youths on reservations aren't going out for the basketball team. Instead, they've taken to skateboarding. Tribal officials are trying to build skate parks from Arizona to South Dakota, the first Native American skateboard company and team are on the San Carlos Reservation, and there is a new Web site called http://www.rezriders.org dedicated to Native skateboarders, snowboarders and alternative sports.
