The Fictional World of Lindsey Gemme...
Candied yams and crock-pot ham,
buttered corn and toasted corn bread,
peas,
carrots,
potatoes and squash -
the scent of the thanksgiving panoply
whirl-wind around three children.
"Look, don't touch," came the mother's shaking forefinger.
Hands clenched to their sides,
mittens dangling on ends of yarn
from elastic tight neon cuffs,
hats with pompoms sliding down their foreheads
they lick their lips
and collectively go "MMMMmmm."
But look don't touch.
Uncles and Aunts with
Festive perfume and cologne
Mingle with the wafting wares
of age old Pilgrims
little boots squeak on the tile
"Don't walk on the carpet!"
Look don't touch.
