Mediaburn's editor would add that 'Generation X' is not as simply defined as in this audio essay; that's why the group is named after the X factor - variable, complex. The editor of Mediaburn is a Generation Xer, though a little younger than Rod Dreher, and had a differing view of the world growing up. For example, it would be hard to say we, as a generation, were gung ho for Republicans during the 1990's, or that we supported the Invasion of Iraq in 2003.
